I Won't Wake Up!

Last school year our class was brimming with poets. Upon visiting them recently in 2nd grade I was happy to see that their way with words has not diminished. As they shared their poems with me I was especially taken with one entitled "I Won't Wake Up!" written by Max.

Who hasn't felt this way before?

I Won't Wake Up!

I won't wake up

I don't care that the school is waiting for me

I don't care that if my sister put the ice in my head

I don't care if I miss breakfast

I don't care if the bus is waiting for me

I Don't Care!!

Luckily for Max there are only 4 days left to this school year, so hopefully he will be free to stay in bed for as long as he wants.

Welcome Summer!

Oh, I have felt that on MANY a day as a kid, AND still do as an adult - today, for example. Luckily, right now, I can get up when I want to!

Nephew is cute and Max's poem applies to me on an almost daily basis.

LOL!

Max's poem could so easily be Princess Perfect: she's terrible at getting up early.

Thanks for sharing it!

Sometimes BED is such a comfortable place to be. I loved a recent Blogger statement that her best sleep was after she hit the snooze button.

Your nephew looks like he could sleep through any alarm!

That's the way I've been feeling these days...

Before I read your post, I looked at the photo and actually thought that it was an old photo of you - and was thinking how cute you were with the freckles!!

Oops! LOL!

Awww, I thought that pic was YOU! But yes, the freckles are cute nonetheless.

LOVE the poem. Even though I'm a morning person, I can identify from time to time. :)

Dennis loves to wake up and sing loud to wake others up too! Maybe kids need that job- the waker-upper! Pretend every morning is Christmas!

I love sleep, all I need is 1 or 2 episodes of Mary Tyler Moore and an Ambien CR and I'm catching some zzzz's

Thanks all for the comments! Yesterday was the last day that I had to get up at 5:00 am for the next two months (and I overslept).

I'm sorry that I simply could not find a picture of a young me sleeping soundly. But then, who besides me takes pictures of folks while they sleep? After seeing 'The Others' starring Nicole Kidman it is a little freaky. And if you saw the movie you'll know what I mean - I hope.

Happy Summer!

adorable kid and great little poem - I would love to be able to sleep in like a kid! no problems falling asleep but come early morning (way too early) I awake, the brain kicks in and it's all over..... ah the carefree life of a child!
