There is a song from the Broadway show Romance/Romance with a lyric that goes "I'm so happy, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy and at ease.
It is sung in wild abandonment for the joy of being alive and in love even though things may not be perfect in every aspect "the main point is true, I have not felt this way for an incredibly long time".
Of course, I tend to think that my natural and right state is one of happiness but it is always nice to show appreciation for the joys in life (and for a certain Joy in mine).
Teaching kindergarten is a delight.
Halloween surrounded by the anticipatory excitement of little children cannot be matched.
Feeling a little tug on my shirt by a small girl with a shy smile who wants to give me a birthday card and gift is something I will always cherish.
Blessings are abundant! I am so grateful.

You always were my "Happy Baby" and I love you and am so proud of you! Never change that magical person you have always been! Love ya, Mom xxxooo
As your mom says, Gary, you are a "magical person." Your joy and contentment can be sensed in everything you write. That is SO amazing. Such a gift. I am so glad you have a life you love, and so glad you are really living it. Thanks for your blog. It never fails to make me smile.
I am jealous. I have to say I do have moments of happiness in my life, but not entirely so. Alas, I'm still young, and I have a feeling all this wonderful contentment is a'comin'. LOL! If not, alcohol, happy pills, or some herb will help do the trick somehow...
I am happy right now though, as I write this comment. It's a lazy Sunday, just relaxing at home. Bliss...
You are the blessing to every child in your class. I can't imagine a better way to start an education!
At some point, I need to pick your brain about convincing the shelter moms about the importance of reading to their kids. I wish I had you here as a role model so they could see how much fun it can be.
I love how positive you are, Gary. So many people are so glum all the time. The world needs more folks like you. :)
Your right there is a "MAGIC" joy in the hearts of Kindergarten teachers...a rare breed!!
So glad you have the magic this year...may that continue for you:)
Fondly, B.
When you're happy with small things, it's easy to be happy about the big things, too. All that happiness is catching! Love that your mom reads your blog and comments so delightfully.
so happy you are so happy

Thank you all for your comments.
I have been very distracted with school work (my own studies) and with life these past few weeks and not focusing the attention I'd like on blogging. However, I do intend to catch up on your blogs soon!
Salty - Yes, I am now 46! It was a fantastic celebration. Thanks.
Did you wear the yellow suit for the kids this year? I was thinking about my visit to your class last year and wondered how things ended in the summer for that group. They seemed so sweet.
Such a lovely post. I am so happy you are happy! it is like lightning in a bottle... the thing about a little kid tugging on your shirt wanting to give you a card, that has to be so wonderful.
