The Unity Of The 50!

In honor of the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama my friend Laurie and I created a short video of American Sign Language signs associated with this historical event.

Enjoy!

Dear Husb...I mean, Gary,

This is a lovely joyously entertaining awesome video clip. I see there is another female friend of yours whose name begins with L. Interesting. You are acting a bit buzzed, must be some damn good wine. Save me some.

And you haven't shaved in a few days, but I'm not complaining, I love the look.

Joy - All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Good eye! I can't believe you noticed my sock monkey Scrabble tile pendent with the ball chain. I got it at JoyouslyAlive Creations. I love mine and have custom ordered other tiles as well including sign language pendents. (I tried to add a link to Etsy but still have not mastered this. What am I doing wrong?!)

Wat - My online hub... Laurie and I had just begun to partake of the spirits at this point. Nothing too exciting (Sangria for me, a Manhattan for her - until she switched to Sangria). The difference in my attitude is probably more from the home environment vs the school setting but if we had done this a few hours later that would probably not be the case. Thanks so much for all the wonderful adjectives.

I'll look for Laurie in the crowds. A nice, educational piece. I just hope that I didn't accidentally learn some off color signing by mistake due to the sangria.

Pauline - Thank YOU.

JT - hehe, I think you are safe from off color signs but this may not be the best 'educational' piece since we sat so close to the computer that we are signing out of range of the camera. Why couldn't we just back up? Oh well. Next time I get toether with a friend, drink Sangria and decide to make an ASL video I'll know better.

Gary,

Thats was truly educational while absolutely tasteful with a glass of wine! We are all looking forward to some positive changes over the next four years. We are definitely ready for it.

Thanks Reya!

Always going for tasteful AND things that taste good. (I sound like a tuna fish commerical.) We certainly are in need of a change Presious and that certainly is worth toasting.

So Kimy that is three signs you know now? Probably more, huh? I'm not sure where Laurie was but you've got me curious. I'll check with her the next time we speak/email. BTW - the recent photos on your blog are incredible...not that they always haven't been but you know that.

Jill - That was my plan, to bring folks into my world through my eyes and once I have you where I want you, you are in my control. WHahahaha! Honestly, I think we needed more light for this one. It may not be my best video showing but it was fun just the same.

I'm always amazed at how the signs are created. I especially like the one for inauguration. It makes so much sense!

I will now have the source of a newfound vocabulary if I should meet someone who signs!

I just had an idea, Gary. Why don't we have a reading session on ASL at the shelter where I read. You could come and teach them a few signs. I'm sure they would love it!

Well done, I enjoyed the sign language and how you tied it into the inauguration. And I like that you had a new partner, your friend Laurie (but still have love for Lauren of course). And how cool that she went on Tuesday.

Barbara - Great idea. I am of course very open to participating but we'd need to figure out how to plan it all out. Still, something to consider.

I'll email you with some books about night for the March 12th reading that touch on different aspects of night from frights to falling asleep. I have some more questions but will email those as well. Hope you are on the mend.
